PREVENTING SHORTAGES AND SAND LICKING
In nature, horses know perfectly well what to eat to stay healthy. A healthy horse’s body usually produces vitamins on its own. Because we often feed our horses a one-sided diet of hay and grass, and maybe some feed, it’s not inconceivable that they develop deficiencies.
You’ll see your horse eating sand or scraping away soil to then lick the stones and ground underneath. To address deficiencies, I offer my horses a mineral buffet.
